TPA (Tissue Polypeptide Antigen) (lymph glands)
The TPA analysis is a valuable tool for detecting and monitoring conditions associated with certain types of cancer. Timely testing can enable early diagnosis and treatment, thereby contributing to effective disease management and improved patient outcomes. At IntroLab laboratory, we are committed to providing reliable and accurate TPA analysis, supporting best practices in oncological diagnostics and treatment.
What is TPA?
Tissue Polypeptide Antigen is a specific protein that is often found in increased amounts in malignant tumors. It is involved in the processes of protein breakdown in cells and is often elevated when cells are actively involved in growth and division, which is characteristic of cancer. The TPA analysis, performed on a blood sample, measures the level of this protein, providing important information about the presence and progression of certain types of malignant tumors, including:
- breast cancer
- ovarian cancer
- lung cancer
In addition to detecting and monitoring tumor progression, TPA analysis can also be used to assess the effectiveness of therapy, where a decrease in levels may indicate successful treatment. However, elevated levels can also occur in non-malignant conditions, meaning that the analysis results should always be interpreted in the context of other diagnostic tests and clinical findings.

Frequently asked questions
What is the TPA tumor marker used for?
Tissue polypeptide antigen (TPA) is a tumor marker whose blood level is often elevated in malignant tumors, including breast, ovarian and lung cancer. It is used to monitor the course of the disease and assess how well treatment is working, as a falling level may indicate successful treatment. Elevated values also occur in non-malignant conditions, so results are always interpreted alongside other diagnostic tests and clinical findings. You can have the TPA test done at IntroLab laboratory.
How much does the TPA tumor marker test cost?
The TPA (tissue polypeptide antigen) test at IntroLab laboratory costs 3,200 RSD, and results are ready in 15 days. It is done on a venous blood sample. Like other tumor markers, TPA is not enough to make a diagnosis, because elevated values can also have a non-malignant cause. The result is interpreted by an oncologist or your primary doctor, together with other findings and the clinical picture.
