Frequently asked questions
What is the Androflor test?
Androflor is a PCR test for men that measures the amount of 24 groups of microorganisms from a urethral swab, ejaculate or prostate secretion: normal flora (lactobacilli, staphylococci, streptococci and corynebacteria), anaerobic bacteria, mycoplasmas and ureaplasmas, Candida, and sexually transmitted pathogens (chlamydia, gonococcus, trichomonas and Mycoplasma genitalium). It is most often done for chronic prostatitis, urethritis and fertility problems.
What is the difference between Androflor and Androflor Screen?
Androflor (20,000 RSD) measures 24 groups of microorganisms, including anaerobic bacteria, Haemophilus and Pseudomonas, which can cause chronic inflammation without a clear cause. Androflor Screen (16,000 RSD) measures 15 groups: the basic flora, mycoplasmas, ureaplasmas, Candida and sexually transmitted pathogens. The screen is enough to check for the most common infections, while the full Androflor is used when the doctor is looking for the cause of long-lasting symptoms.
How much does Androflor cost and how is the sample taken?
Androflor® costs 20,000 RSD at IntroLab laboratory, and the result is ready in 48–72 hours. The sample can be a urethral swab, a glans swab, ejaculate or prostate secretion, and sampling requires an appointment scheduled in advance. You should not urinate for at least 2 hours before a urethral swab. When booking, the laboratory can give you any additional information you need.
