Frequently asked questions
What is Femoflor screening?
Femoflor screening is a PCR test that uses a single swab to assess a woman’s basic flora (lactobacilli, Gardnerella/Prevotella, ureaplasmas, Mycoplasma hominis and Candida) and at the same time detect sexually transmitted pathogens: Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas vaginalis, Mycoplasma genitalium, cytomegalovirus and herpes simplex virus 1 and 2. For a detailed flora analysis, IntroLab laboratory also offers Femoflor 16.
How much does Femoflor screening cost?
Femoflor® screening costs 13,000 RSD at IntroLab laboratory, and the result is ready in 48–72 hours. Separate PCR tests for chlamydia, gonococcus, Mycoplasma genitalium and trichomonas cost 3,000 RSD each, or 12,000 RSD in total, while Femoflor screening covers these plus 8 more groups of microorganisms and viruses.
How do I prepare for Femoflor screening?
Femoflor® screening requires an appointment scheduled in advance at IntroLab laboratory. The sample is a vaginal, cervical or urethral swab. The day before the swab, do not use intimate washes; avoid sexual intercourse and vaginal creams for 24 hours before, and do not have the swab taken during menstruation.
