Secretory IgA saliva
The secretory IgA saliva test is an analysis available at the IntroLab laboratory in Belgrade, used to measure the level of secretory immunoglobulin A (IgA) in a saliva sample. Secretory IgA is a type of antibody found in the mucosa of the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and urogenital tracts, as well as in saliva. This type of immunological analysis aims to assess the level of secretory IgA in saliva as an indicator of the local immune response in the mucous membranes.
What does the analysis involve?
The secretory IgA saliva analysis is a non-invasive method that does not require blood drawing but uses a saliva sample instead. The patient simply collects a saliva sample, which is then sent to the laboratory for analysis. This method is convenient because it is simple and painless.
When is the secretory IgA saliva test useful?
The secretory IgA saliva analysis is used in various medical fields. Its applications include assessing the local immune response of mucosa, diagnosing and monitoring infections, inflammatory conditions, allergies, and autoimmune diseases that may manifest in the mucous membranes.
