By its precise measurement at <a href=\"https:\/\/introlab.net\/en\/\">IntroLab<\/a> laboratory, we can provide important information about your reproductive health and help you understand your hormonal state.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>What is FSH?<\/h2>\n<p>Follicle-stimulating hormone is one of the hormones secreted from the pituitary gland, located at the base of the brain. <em>FSH plays a key role in regulating the growth and development of ovaries in women and testes in men.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In women, <strong>follicle-stimulating hormone promotes the growth and maturation of follicles<\/strong> (small spherical structures) in the ovaries. In men, this hormone <strong>stimulates the testes to produce sperm.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Why is the FSH analysis done?<\/h2>\n<p>Several reasons why FSH may be determined include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Infertility:<\/strong> FSH is often measured in men and women who have fertility issues. High levels of follicle-stimulating hormone can be an indicator of a reduced number of egg cells in women or a reduced number of sperm in men.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Menstrual problems:<\/strong> If a woman has irregular, missed, or heavy menstrual cycles, measuring this hormone can help identify the issue.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Early or delayed puberty:<\/strong> In children showing signs of early or delayed puberty, the FSH test can be used to assess whether these changes are occurring within the expected timeframe.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Menopause:<\/strong> In women showing signs of menopause, testing can help confirm whether a woman is going through menopause.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The values of this hormone are usually interpreted in combination with levels of other hormones, such as estrogen, progesterone, and luteinizing hormone (LH). It is always best to consult with a doctor or reproductive health specialist if you have questions or concerns about FSH or other hormones.<\/p>\n<h2>Preparation for the analysis<\/h2>\n<p>For women, it is important to consider specific days of the menstrual cycle when taking a blood sample, so it is necessary to consult with a doctor.
