CK-NAC
The CK-NAC blood analysis has become an essential part of preventive screenings and the diagnosis of heart diseases. IntroLab, a biochemical laboratory in Belgrade, offers comprehensive CK-NAC analysis services. With state-of-the-art equipment and professional staff, patients are ensured reliable and accurate testing.
When and why is the CK-NAC blood analysis performed?
CK-NAC is a marker of muscle damage that can indicate damage to the heart muscle, but also to skeletal muscles. The analysis is recommended when there is a suspicion of a heart attack or another heart disease. It can also be useful in monitoring the effects of treatment for heart diseases.
Timeline for the analysis
The time required to obtain the results of the CK-NAC analysis varies. However, at IntroLab, we strive to provide the results in the shortest possible time, usually within 8 hours after the blood draw.

Frequently asked questions
What is CK-NAC and when is the test done?
CK-NAC is a test that measures the total activity of the enzyme creatine kinase (CK) in the blood. Creatine kinase is found in skeletal muscles and the heart muscle, so an elevated level points to damage to them. At IntroLab laboratory, the CK-NAC test is ordered when a heart attack or other heart disease is suspected, to monitor treatment, and also for muscle pain and weakness. To distinguish heart damage, the doctor often also orders CK-MB.
What does high CK in the blood mean?
High CK in the blood means that the enzyme creatine kinase has leaked out of damaged muscle cells. The cause can be damage to the heart muscle, for example in a heart attack, but also injury or inflammation of skeletal muscles, intense physical exertion, intramuscular injections and some medications, such as statins. That is why a single elevated value does not establish a diagnosis on its own. A CK-NAC result from IntroLab laboratory is interpreted by a doctor, together with symptoms and other tests.
How much does a CK test cost and do I need to fast?
The CK-NAC test at IntroLab laboratory costs 310 RSD, and the result is ready within 8 hours of the blood draw. No special conditions are required, but it is advisable to have blood drawn on an empty stomach for the most accurate result. Since intense physical exertion can raise CK, it is better to avoid strenuous exercise before the blood draw, and tell your doctor which medications you are taking.
